| Primitive man’s relationship to nature was
at once intimate and transformative imbued with his own hope and
terror -- divine.
Modern man’s scientific mentality has relegated such
vision of nature to poets, artists and other symbolists interested
in internal realities.
Surrealist painter Jose Lopes uses the spirits resident in
natural image to evoke human states of being and becoming. In
his exhibition, “Animist Eye,” Lopes presents powerful
transformations which dramatize the beautiful, sometimes grotesque
natural man. |
