For over a decade artist Matthew Stradling has been producing
paintings which celebrate the body and sensuality, whilst
making serious comments about desire, loneliness and mortality,
with a skillfull and extravagant touch and a knowing sense
of humour.
In his latest exhibition at The Adonis Gallery, Matthew presents
a new
series of paintings which depict a dream-like vision of opulence.
Centered around single idealised nudes the work takes on a
religious significance as the subjects present themselves
as though touched by divinity or in ecstatic repose.
