Artist Statement:

"The 27 photos in this show are selections from my planned next book BEAUPHOTOS. In this work, each 'chapter' is an individual man, alone in each shot of a separate, loose scenario. I'm interested in narrative, and I tried to craft it so that the viewer takes on the role of the 'other'. I'm hoping this opens up the works to interest, identification, and a hint of voyeristic pleasure

"The style I created with my paintings is translated to my photographs... lush color, absurdly handsome, sexy men, Hollywoodesque glamour, and an attention to setting and detail. My influences are Horst, Outerbridge, Duane Michaels, Caravaggio, Doug Sirk, Tom Of Finland (could I forget him!), and the everpresent Bruce Weber (in some of my work I say it's like Bruce Weber meets Bruce of Los Angeles)."

BEAU has decades worth of highly erotic paintings presented in magazines, galleries and on book covers. They were recently collected into two sucessful books, BEAUMEN, and BEAUMEN 2. BEAU stopped painting due to a terrible car accident. Although he is not fully recovered, he has turned his artist's eye to photography. This show is the gallery debut of his new work.
