THIS TRANSGENDER DOCUMENTARY REVEALS
WHAT OTHER FILMS REFUSE
Many films have addressed the topic on transgender and their
everyday realities and struggles. However one documentary
film, Trans/Formed, shows the unabashed detailed lifestyle
of one of the largest transgender communities, located in
Los Angeles, California.
Trans/Formed follows the lives of four transgender women
of different ethnicities and backgrounds, living in Los Angeles.
The film unfolds through an eclectic family album as each
woman explains their unique story and their pursuit to becoming
a woman.
The city of Los Angeles, while embracing the transgender
community more than most, still rejects and relegates the
community in many aspects. For them, it is hard to find work
that is not prostitution, hard to find acceptance, and almost
impossible to create a life and family
What stands out about Trans/Formed is it’s
objective, compassionate nature, the stories are very real
and in no way dramatized. The film is a forum for which these
women tell their honest experiences of sex abuse, prostitution,
love loss, and rejection from their families. The documentary
shows people a truth in the hope that it further a tolerance
and understanding for the transgender culture.
The film is making its worldwide premiere in Los Angeles
on November 13th. With question and answer afterwards.
