2014 HELSINKI COMICS FESTIVAL

The theme this year is LGBT comics.

Helsinki Comics FestivalThe largest comics festival in Northern Europe welcomes comics fans and professionals alike. The main event features once again a comics market, Small Press Heaven, artists, exhibitions, discussions, presentations, live drawing performances, competitions, animation, kids' events and clubs.

Among the highlights of this year's festival are the exhibitions celebrating the lives and works of two of the most prolific Finnish LGBT artists, Tom of Finland (Touko Laaksonen) and Moomin creator Tove Jansson.

DIRTY FRAMES | Opens 28th August, 2014

Dirty Frames, which opens August 28, is one of the highlights of the the 29th Helsinki Comics Festival celebrating Queer artists this year, and it coincides with the 40th anniversary year of Seta. The exhibition includes artists associated with Tom of Finland Foundation including Etienne, The Hun, Michael Kirwan, Jouni Lepistö, Joe Phillips, Benoît Prévot, Studio Splatter, Thor of Sweden and Bill Ward.
