COMMANDERS
ENJOY SCINTILLATING SERVICE AT FIRST ANNUAL DINNER
 Those
Foundation members who contributed $250 or more – the “Commander” level
of membership – got more than a tax-deduction this year.
They also received an invitation to the first Commanders’ Dinner.
This event, which will become an annual tradition, was held at
Foundation headquarters on February 16, and turned into quite a special
event.

After being greeted at the front door, guests were turned over
to one of six “teams” from our Stable of Studs for the evening – Foundation
volunteers and pornstars including Bud, Clint Cooper, Chris
Green, and York Powers – who fetched drinks and hors d’oeuvres, gave tours of
the house, and engaged in spirited conversation. When dinner was announced – Tom of Finland’s favorite meal
of marinated lemon chicken, rice pilaf, and steamed vegetables – the
teams rotated, so guests enjoyed their meals with a different set of
Studs. The last “shift
change” occurred in time for a new set of our Men to lead each guest
to the dessert buffet, which featured peach pie, lemon bars, chocolate
chocolate chip cake, and ice creams.
In addition to fine food and scintillating company, the Foundation
had a few surprises: celebrity
and male nude photographer Greg Gorman, and famed film maker John Waters – on his first visit to the Tom of Finland house – mixed,
mingled, and graciously posed for photos (as you can see).
And what did the director of Hairspray
like most about the house? The
1930’s-vintage hair dryer in the second floor bathroom.
“I love it!” he proclaimed.

The
next Commanders’ Dinner won’t be till next year, but another great social
event is on the horizon: the
Second Annual Tom’s Cocktail
Party, honoring those who have contributed $100 or more – the Seaman
and Commander levels of membership. This year’s Party will kick off
Los Angeles Gay Pride Weekend, and will be held at Foundation Headquarters
on Friday evening, June 21, which also happens to be the first day of
summer! If it’s a Tom of
Finland event, you know it’ll be a lot of fun – so why not upgrade your
membership and get on the guest list?
